Pippa Gatty (b. 1965 London) Lives and works in Scotland. Gatty holds a B.A. in Fine Art Painting (1990) and an MA (2008) from Chelsea College of Art and Design. Gatty’s work extends to drawing, painting and video installation. Driven by the idea of artistic labour as ‘phantasm’ facilitator, Gatty’s chosen subjects investigate and challenge the boundaries between imaginary and real. By alternating the perception of time and space, Gatty creates new open-ended narratives and memories. In 2009, Gatty was awarded with The Red Mansion Art Prize. She had a solo exhibition at Galerie im Kunsthof as a part of the Halberstadt biennial 2014. Gatty’s work has been part of important group exhibitions, including: Derwent Drawing prize (2013), Palomar 2, Bloc Projects Sheffield (2013); The Threadneedle Prize, Mall Galleries, London (2012); Jerwood Drawing Prize, Jerwood Space, London (2012); Palomar, Surface Gallery, Nottingham (2012); Paralleles of Latitude, UBM, London (2012); Brittle Crazie Glass, Isllington Mill Salford (2012); and Dig Down in Time, Man and Eve Project Space, London (2011). In 2011, she was also shortlisted for Discerning Eye Drawing Bursary. Gatty's work is in collections the University of the Arts Collection, the Robert Devereaux Collection, and in other private collections.
