Mona Hatoum (b. 1952, Beirut) lives and works in London. Graduated from Slade School of Fine Art, London (1981); Byam Shaw School of Art, London (1979); Beirut University College, Lebanon (1972). Hatoum was the recipient of the Art Icon Award, Whitechapel Gallery, London (2018); The 10th Hiroshima Art Prize, Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, Hiroshima (2017); Joan Miró Prize, Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona (2011). Residencies include Moody Center for the Arts, Rice University, Houston (2017); Pilchuck Glass School, Stanwood (2015); CIRVA Centre international de recherche sur le verre et les arts plastiques, Marseille (2011-13). Selected solo exhibitions include Remains of the Day, White Cube, Hong Kong (2018); Terra Infirma, Menil Collection, Houston (2017), toured to the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, St Louis (2018); Displacements/ Entortungen, The Museum of Fine Arts, Leipzig (2017); The 10th Hiroshima Art Prize, Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, Hiroshima (2017); Mona Hatoum, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris (2015) toured to Tate Modern, London (2016) and Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, Helsinki (2016); Turbulence, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha (2014); Mona Hatoum, Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, St. Gallen (2013); Projecció, Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona (2012); Over My Dead Body, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney (2005); The Entire World as a Foreign Land, Tate Britain, London (2000).
