Born 1965 Hertfordshire, Louise Hopkins lives and works in Glasgow. Graduated from University of Northumbria (1988), and Glasgow School of Art (1994).
Hopkins makes paintings and drawings directly onto surfaces that already contain information; world maps, patterned furnishing fabric, comics, catalogue pages, magazine pages, photographs, folded or crumpled paper and sheet music.
Her works are held in public and private collections including Museum of Modern Art, New York; Arts Council England, London; City Arts Centre, Edinburgh; Jumex Collection, Mexico; and Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh.
