James Brooks (b. 1974, Devon, UK) lives and works in London. Studied at Chelsea College of Art. Awards include the artist/curator development grant by the Art Council of England (2006), and he was selected to write and deliver a paper on Contemporary Drawing for the publication and symposium Drawing: The Future at The National Gallery, London. In 2017 Brooks will exhibit in Singapore and Turin, and undertake an artist residency in Hiroshima, Japan. He has shown work in solo and group exhibitions in Paris, Frankfurt, London, New York, Berlin, Munich, Brussels, Miami, Norway, Hiroshima, Galway, and Bari. He has been included in exhibitions at the Staedel Museum, Frankfurt and Tate Britain, London. He has had 10 solo exhibitions to date and was selected for the Contemporary Art Society’s ART Futures 2007 held at Bloomberg SPACE, London. His work is held in collections including University of Arts London; Staedel Museum, Frankfurt; and the David Roberts Arts Foundation, London. He is represented by galleries in Turin, Frankfurt, and London.
