Born 1968 UK, David Osbaldeston lives and works in Scotland & Manchester. Graduated from MA Fine Art, Manchester (2002); and Rijksakedemie, Amsterdam (2010).
I am interested in an art that transforms materials through systems or processes in a way that questions my association to fixed forms and identities. The ongoing concern is to reconcile the world as it presents itself with the world that is conveyed through language.
Selected exhibitions include The Serving Library Collection, 019, Ghent (2020-21); Double Act, Cample Line Gallery, Thornhill (2019); Annotated Compendia, Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh (2019); CR McBerny, Berlin/Manchester (2019); Drawing Biennial, The Drawing Room, London (2019); The Serving Library V: David Osbaldeston at the Bonington Gallery, Bonington Gallery, Nottingham (2018); Maquettes, THE BLOCK, London (2018); The Practice of Theories, Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridge (2017); The Top & Bottom of It, Mechanism for a Future Reference, Matt’s Gallery, London (2015); Modern History, Vol 1, 2, & 3, Curated by Lynda Morris, Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool, Atkinson Gallery, Southport and Bury Art Gallery, Manchester (2015); Chancellors Fellow, Residency in Art Writing, Edinburgh College of Art & Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop (2014); The Measure of All Things, The City Dome, Collective Gallery, Edinburgh (2014); and Inflection Sandwich, Piper Keys, London (2013).
