Alex Hartley (b.1963, West Byfleet) lives and works in Devon. Graduated from Foundation Course at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts (1984); BA Hons at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts (1987); and MA at the Royal College of Art (1990). He was commission winner for Compton Verney (2017-2022); won the Coal Prix Arts Foundation Award (2015); the National Trust for Scotland Artist in residence ST. Kilda (2013). Hartley also participated in Artists Taking the Lead, Cultural Olympiad (2012); was winner of the Linklaters Commission, Barbican, London (2005); and winner of Sculpture at Goodwood ART2000 Commission Prize, London (2000).
