Sean Michael (b. 1972, Blackpool, UK) Studied at the Royal College of Art, London and lives and works in London. Michael explores the authority of printed images to structure knowledge, referencing book formats like encyclopaedias he uses drawing with printmaking to explore themes of fantasy, continuum, function and classification with surrealist subversion. He works as a lecturer in London, has completed a variety of public comissions including Artist in residence Great Ormond Street Hospital (2006), and he was the first winner of the Alexandra Reinhardt Award.
