Pedro Cabrita-Reis

Pedro Cabrita-Reis (b. 1956, Lisbon, Portugal) lives and works in Lisbon. His work can be characterized by an idiosyncratic philosophical and poetical discourse across a variety of media: painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, and installations of industrial, found materials and manufactured objects. Centered in questions relative to space and memory, his works gain a suggestive power of association which reach a metaphorical dimension by going beyond the visual. Selected exhibitions include: Pedro Cabrita Reis: One after another, a few silent steps, M Musuem, Leuven (2011); Desposicao, Pinacoteca de Sao Paulo; L’un après l’autre, quelques pas silencieux, Carre D’Art, Nimes (2010); One after another, a few silent steps, Hamburger Kunsthalle, Hamburg (2009); Xe Biennale de Lyon – The Spectacle of Every Day, Lyon (2009); La Linea del Volcan, Museo Tamayo, Mexico City (2009);  Pedro Cabrita Reis Fondazione Merz, Turin (2008); and True Gardens #6 Kunsthaus Graz, Zurich (2008).
