Linda Persson

Linda Persson (b. Österhaninge, Sweden) lives and works in England and Sweden. She graduated from Chelsea College of Art in 2002. In 2011-12 she was awarded the Mejan Residents stipend at the Royal Institute of Arts in Stockholm. In 2013/14 she was the recipient of the Independent arts award from the Swedish Arts Committee, plus additional grants for her ambitious and complex work Nuortabealli (Nightshade) for the Sámi Centre for Contemporary Art in Norway. She also received support for her continuous engagement in creating short-term work & exhibition spaces free or at low cost for artists & curators, mainly in London. Recent awarded residencies have been Skaftfell Arts residency (Dieter Roth academy), Iceland; Mejan Residents, Sweden and at Treignac Projet, 2014, France, Counterpahtpress in Colorado, 2015 and a film project around Tasmania, AU, 2015.  Exhibitions include: 2015: Counterpathpress, US, 2014: Sámi Center for Contemporay Art, Norway; 5months, London; 2013: Nordenhake Galerie; Haninge Konsthall, Sweden; Auditorium, Dilston Grove & LIMBO, Margate, UK, 2012: Mejan Gallery, SE, Skaftfell Projectspace, IS, 2011: Airspace, Stoke-on-Trent, Natural Language,  Vitrine Gallery, London; Normalcy Bias 2, Listros Gallery, Berlin. 2010: Örebro Länsmuseum, Sweden; The Allegory of the Cave, Art Container, Tallinn, Estonia; Acute melancholia, Studio 44, Stockholm; The Devils Necktie, Woodmill Projects, London; Line Journeys, Collier & Bristow Gallery
Persson is also the founder of XRAY 2008-11, Flat 16, Stockholm 2102, NOW|THEN|SOON, 2012- ongoing with Liam Sprod & 5 months, London Nov-April 2014.
