Grace O’Connor (b. 1977, Waterbury, Ct., USA) lives and works in London. Studied MA Painting at the Royal Academy of Art (1999). Her distinctive paintings often capture the isolation and loneliness of the figure. Grace's deeply poetic narrative reflects back to growing up in Connecticut. At the heart of her work is the desire to convey longing whether for a place or a person. Select exhibitions include One Day in June (solo exhibition), Paul Stolper, London (2016); BP Portrait Award, UK (2015); and Drawing Biennial 2015, Drawing Room, London, UK(2015). Her work has also been included in numerous Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions; the John Moores Prize; the Hunting Art Prize, where she won 'Young Artist of the Year,'; the Jerwood Drawing prize, London (2007); and BP Portrait Awards, National Gallery, London (2006).
