Fred Tomaselli

Fred Tomaselli (b. 1956, Santa Monica, US) lives and works in Brooklyn, US. Studied BA Painting and Drawing at California State University (1982). Tomaselli is acclaimed for his collaged works incorporating unconventional materials and depicting surreal scenes. His resin-coated paintings on wood panel feature layers of photographic cutouts placed into winding patterns, often alongside illicit substances such as pills—prescription and otherwise—and hallucinogenic plants and herbs. Winner of the Art Commission Award for Excellence in Design, City Hall, New York, US (1993).
