Florian Pumhösl (b. 1971, Vienna, Austria) lives and works in Vienna. Pumhösl graduated from the Higher Federal Teaching and Research Institute for Graphics, Vienna (1991) and the University of Applied Arts, Vienna (1997). Pumhösl’s work draws heavily on the aesthetic of modernist art, architecture and graphics, which he uses in painting, film and installation works. His recent solo exhibitions include: Kunsthaus Bregenz, Bregenz (2012); the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago (2012); MUMOK, Vienna (2011); Kunstverein for Rhineland and Westphalia, Dusseldorf (2010); and Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, Luxembourg (2009). Pumhösl participated in Documenta 12, Kassel (2007) and the São Paulo Biennial, São Paulo (2006).
