Elín Jakobsdottir

Elín Jakobsdóttir (b.1968 Iceland) lives and works in Glasgow. She studied at Glasgow School of Art and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Her work combines drawing, paper cut-outs, painting, sculptural objects and experimental films shot in Super8 and 16mm. She was awarded an Artist’s Bursary from Creative Scotland (2014) and a Creative Futures in Germany Award from The British Council (2013). She has an upcoming solo show at Krome Gallery Luxembourg in autumn 2015. Recent solo and group exhibitions include Eyes Cast, Leeds Art Gallery, Leeds (2014-15); Fiction Dacha Folly, Collaborations, Art Cologne (2014); Frames, CCA Glasgow, Glasgow International (2014); Folding Unfolding Space, Cubus-M Galerie, Berlin (2014); Drawing Biennial 2013, Drawing Room, London (2013); Drifting, House of World Cultures, Berlin (2013); Bursting at the Seams Boiling Point of Dreams, Krome Gallery, Berlin (2013); and Ecstatic Symbolic, Fiction House, Berlin (2012). Film commissions include The Louvre Museum, Paris (2004); Stills, Edinburgh (2009); and Leeds Museums and Art Galleries (2014). Jakobsdóttir is represented by Krome Gallery Berlin/Luxembourg and is co-founder of Fiction House.
