Ed Fornieles

Ed Fornieles (b. 1983, Petersfield, England, UK) lives and works in London, UK. Studied HND Art and Design at Winchester University, UK (2001); BA Fine Art at Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford University, UK (2005); and MA Sculpture at Royal College of Art, London, UK (2011). A post-internet artist using Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram as raw materials, Fornieles collapses the distinction between the online and the offline worlds by translating web-based art into sculpture and performance. A former data analyst, Fornieles uses real-time information from news feeds and social media to explore contemporary power structures, all with an underlying satire and excess. Fornieles is winner of the Cunliffe Prize (2003). Select solo exhibitions include The Finiliar, Arsenal New York, US (2017); Truth Table, Cura - Basement Roma, IT (2016); Der Geist: Flesh Feast, Arratia Beer, Berlin, DE (2016); Workland: the fence is a narrow place, Chateau Shatto, Los Angeles (2015); Jupiter Ascending, Carl Kostyal, Stockholm (2015); Modern Family, Chisenhale Gallery, London (2014); and Pool Party Plays Itself, MOCAtv, LA (2013).
