Berry Patten (b. 1986, Essex, UK) lives and works in London, UK. Studied BA Fine Art at Norwich School of Art and Design. Patten works with drawing, print, sculpture, film, and performance. Her interest lies in the navigational process and the tensions of investigation — this often manifests in a sense of energy and open discussion, which in turn suspends the images she makes in mid-animation. Drawings become part of installations alongside video, audio works and sculptures: sometimes the making of the drawings becomes part of the videos and their narrative is ongoing and constantly evolving. They lead to a discussion of identity, gender and class that bring in examples of openness, awkwardness, vulnerability, love, communication, depression and anxiety. Select exhibitions include and through the roof we hit the ceiling, Depford X Festival, London, UK (2016); A cheap excuse night in, Greatorex (2016); Noumenal Menagerie, Trampoline Gallery, Antwerp, BE (2015); and The Blue Project, Open Source Festival, London, UK (2015).
