Andrew Mania (b. 1974, Bristol) lives and works in Bristol. Mania received his BA in Fine Art from Falmouth 1994-1997 and completed his MA at Chelsea College of Art in 1999. Mania is known for his figurative drawings, most often composed of portraits that stare directly at the viewer. The artist was awarded the Rome Scholarship in 2004 and the Jerwood Drawing Prize in 2002. Solo exhibitions include Andrew Mania, BloombergSpace, London (2009), Gogolin, Holbourne Museum of Art, Bath (2007), and Andrew Mania, Jack Hanley, New York (2005). His work has been shown in a number of group exhibitions such as Nothing but Youth, Turner Contemporary, Margate (2011), Evening’s Tears, Morning’s Dew, Ancient and Modern, London (2011) and Just Photography, Martos Gallery, New York (2011), and Bloomberg New Contemporaries (2000).
