Jeff McMillan

Jeff McMillan (b. 1968 Lubbock, Texas) has lived and worked in London since 1998. His work approaches painting through process and materiality, often in combination with the found object or second-hand image. As curator he founded the Shoreditch project space PEARL from 2001-2004 and was also curator of I AR YOU: Portraits by Self-Taught American Artists, Large Glass, London (2013); British Folk Art, Tate Britain (2014); and a show themed on abstract drawing, Tell it Slant at Frith Street Gallery, London (2016). Select solo exhibitions include Handel Street Projects, London (2016); Four All Saints, London (2011); Kinzelman Art, Houston (2011); and PEER, London (2009). Select group exhibitions include Five Easy Pieces, Large Glass, London (2017); Found, The Foundling Museum, London (2016); ABJAD, Ingleby Gallery, Edinburgh (2015); Drawing Biennial 2015, Drawing Room, London; Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, London (2014); six mementos for the next…, Magazin4 Bregenzer Kunstverein, Bregenz, Austria (2013); Unknown Sitter, Lion and Lamb Gallery, London (2013); The Curator’s Egg Altera Pars, Anthony Reynolds Gallery, London (2012); and Exquisite Trove, Newlyn Art Gallery, Cornwall (2011). His work has also been included in the John Moores Painting Prize in Liverpool (2002, 2004, 2006).
