Claudia Wieser

Claudia Wieser (b.1973, Freilassing,Germany) currently lives and works in Berlin. She studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künst, Munich, with Axel Kasseböhmer and Markus Oehlen. Her work reiterates the aesthetics of early Modernist artits, particularly Gustav Klimt and Paul Klee. Her compositions follow the formal rules developed by those two artists- a theorization that linked drawing, colour and style to a transcendent, ideal world. Selected solo exhibitons include: Container, Sies+Höke, Düsseldorf (2014); Galeria Casado Santapau, Madrid (2014); Galerie Kamm, Berlin (2013); Furniture, Kiosk, Ghent (2012); Poems of the Right Angle, The Drawing Center, NY (2010); and Ich und Du, with Bernd Ribbeck, Kunstverein, Oldenburg, Germany (2009).
